It seems I owe you all a very overdue update on Project Big Boy Bed. The truth is the monster has done very well. His momma and the actual bed haven't faired so well.
Since none of my ideas ever seem to be simple, I thought for sure this one would be a home run! Make a daybed to fit the size of twin mattress… upholster said daybed… add nailhead trim. What could possibly go wrong?
For starters, the size. When the daybed got delivered, they brought everything in and assembled the bed in place. Someone (certainly not moi) didn't think to put the mattress on the actual bed until after they were gone. Rookie mistake!
There was a good 2-3" gap around the entire mattress. Hence the need for a pool noodle to hold it in place. (We are nothing if notghetto efficient here!)
Anywho, the bed was eventually cut down to the right size, but it did mean that the little monster lived on the floor for about a week. He loved this part. Me - not so much. When the bed was finally brought back, someone (definitely not me this time) forgot to cut down the base that the mattress sits on. So back to the floor the little monster went.
As usual, the third times a charm and the whole thing finally came together about 6 weeks after the initial attempt. Monster and I are both loving the whole thing!
Me: When it looks like this…
Him: When it looks like this…

Just keeping' it real. See, Millie, I do let him play with all his toys at once!
Cheers,
Jessie
I knew he played!
