Iceapoolza

I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm still feeling the effects of Iceapoolza. While I am desperately trying to finish up all my Christmas shopping TODAY (thank goodness for Mother's Day Out), I did have a little extra time on my hands during the numerous ice days.

So what else would I do, but make a few design boards. First up is my Mom's living room. She recently got a new sectional. It looks great, but now we want to make a few more changes. As in, a larger rug, bigger coffee table and of course more accessories. Anywho, here is the first pass @ the tentative game plan. There are two rug options… not cheap and really not cheap. (Sorry, Mom!)

I was feeling a little left out of the design plans so I decided to make a design board for our master bedroom too. I'm glad when we did the built-ins that we purged all the old stuff, but man it looks bare in there right now.
Unfortunately, I think I might have already changed my mind on the mirror and lamp. Thoughts on the new options?

Do we think Santa reads the blog and may bring a few of these goodies by? Anywho, I hope you all were slightly more productive than myself. Wish me luck today!

Cheers,
Jessie

Checkin' My List

Everybody have their trees up, their lights out and their pumpkins put away?!? Please promise me that you don't overlap holidays.

Obviously, the gift giving season is upon us and every year I promise to be more on top of it than the previous one. So far that has yet to happen, but I wanted to give you a cool idea for a gift.

Paintings! Have I mentioned that before? :)

We actually did this for my sister-in-law's bday and I love the way it turned out. They started a gallery wall in their house and she's been looking for different pieces to fill it. Well, it just so happens that I have a friend who is an incredible artist and she offered to do this custom piece for us.

I just found an image that I liked and she went to town. I love it… hopefully, the SIL does too!

Anywho, the artist's name is Helen Green and she does incredible work. Here are some of my favs of hers…

She is also offering custom children's portraits for the Holidays. You know the grandparents would eat that up! Don't say I didn't tell you something fab to get your momma.

And don't forget your favorite blogger when you're checking that Christmas list, all right?

Cheers,
Jessie

A Little Bit of Life

I realize I've been a bit sporadic in posting lately. To be honest, my whole life feels a bit that way. I haven't even seen one new episode of Parenthood this season. WHAT?!? Something is seriously out of whack.

So here's a brief update so we're all up to speed…

I went to Boston a couple of weekends ago to see my bestie, Sarah. We did a little of this…

And this…

I also managed to come home with this…

And this…

It's so great to see the look of confusion on Hootie's face when I walk off a plane with a box of champagne glasses and a painting. (Let's just say it's not the first time.) Anywho, the painting has found a lovely home in our existing gallery wall.

While in Boston, I managed to fall back in love with a store called Hudson. How could you not love this place (aside from the prices)?

Since then, Baylor has rocked it.

Monster has potty trained (semi-successfully).

And I bought a new notebook in order to keep myself organized… at least that is the goal.

So, what's new with you all?

Cheers,
Jessie

Try Again… And Again

I'm sad to report that the latest version of our bedroom rug has been discontinued after waiting 6 weeks to receive something that was never to be. In case you are doing the math that is rug #5 that has bit the dust… I'm starting to believe our bedroom rug has been cursed.

The selection process actually began one year ago on Thanksgiving Eve. RugsUSA was having a blowout sale and this overdyed replica was initially selected.

After being on back order for several months, it arrived just in time to move back in with the rest of our furniture this spring, but the joy was short-lived. The colors just weren't what I wanted and for $80 I was able to return it. :(

There was brief flirtation with this beauty in Santa Fe, but I was never able to fully commit to the color or the trend.

Next up was the FLOR option! I never purchased the tiles to be fair, but there was a lot of debate between these three choices…

In the end, I went to pull the trigger and just knew it wasn't the right fit for us.

Most recently, I fell for this modern take on a traditional style. The colors were neutral, but the pattern made it interesting. We could have made it work, but Egypt went and decided to discontinue the item before we could meet.

So know here we are rugless and feeling jilted.  Not to worry, I've already ordered this bad boy…

He's backordered thru January. Fingers crossed that it's a match!

Jessie

Lucky!

I had the great privilege to work with the cutest couple who were featured in the Lakewood Tour of Homes this past weekend. They live in this beauty…

I know… it's awesome, right?!? Anywho, somehow I ended up on the job and am so grateful for the opportunity. It's been awhile since I've shown any real work so I thought you might enjoy!

This was being referred to as the 'West Bedroom'. I don't know why this makes me giggle, but I'd love to live in a house where there is an east and a west. We're more of a 'You Can Sleep Here… or Not."

This is the 'East Bedroom'. I'm particularly in love with the gallery wall. The homeowners are quite the world travelers and have beautiful photos and treasures from around the world.

You know I'm not normally an all-white kind of a girl, but this one could make me a convert. What you can't see is their incredible backyard!

Yep, that's theirs all right… too bad you don't want to hang out back there!

That's enough coveting for one day. Just one more big thank you to the homeowner… it was a wonderful experience.

Cheers,
Jessie

#1

Does anyone remember what today is?

It's Flat 200's birthday! Can you believe it? A whole year of me direct to you...
Here's a few of the highlights:

  • Over 15,000 pageviews - Thanks, Mom!
  • 135 posts
  • 60 Facebook followers
  • And our most popular post ever... duh, They're Real & They're Fabulous! You guys are so dirty!
To celebrate, I've decided to spend the weekend in Boston with my bestie (sans Hootie & monster)! Raise your hand if you're excited. *Insert every hand I have here.*

Thanks for the support! Here's to year #2!

Cheers,
Jessie

PS - I wish there was someway to look up the number of exclamation points ever used. I would have to think my percentage would be high!!!

Whatever Wednesday!

It's been a long time since I did one of these posts, but I figure I need some retail therapy after all my self imposed drama with the big boy bed!

Update: We - specifically me - did survive the first night despite lots of jumping up & down on the new mattress. Promise to post pics soon!

Anywho with Christmas beginning to ramp up, I'm already getting hounded for lists. (Sorry, Millie!) So here's my current wish list... as always, I will also accept loose diamonds, bars of gold and bags of money.

In a shocking turn of events, I would like even more jewelry! I'm obsessed with the new Kendra Scott collection. Yes, I do think you can have too much of a good thing, but these look different than the rest, right?!?

I need this little guy in my life... it's a mini clutch (Is there really such a thing?) and wallet in one. It says I like to be organized and look stylish while doing it!

I once owned the world's most incredible coat and it was stolen. *Insert sad, angry face.* You know how I have a hard time getting over things, but I think this one could be a close second.

Seeing as my purse is now a dumping ground for everyone and everything, I thought I should step up my mobile trash can with one of these beauties. I'm digging the grey& yellow... did I mention it can be monogrammed?

I guess that can get you all started. There are only 56 shopping days until Christmas!

Cheers,
Jessie

Change

By the time you read this post, the monster will have slept in his crib for the last time. That's right. Today is B-day... as in big boy bed and this mama is having a harder time than she imagined.

Somehow my baby went from this...

to this...

While I am so grateful for the sweet little rambunctious boy he is becoming, it is tough to realize how quickly they leave that baby stage. If you get a moment today, this mama would greatly appreciate any extra prayers for a smooth transition and a little bit of peace along the way.

Cheers,
Jessie

PS - The only thing keeping my spirits high is getting to see this cuteness in action soon!
