33 Years In The Making...

Despite my previous claims, I am not turning 21 today, but a very happy and healthy 33 years old. It should come as no surprise that I'm a spry thirty-three so in honor of the big day I've compiled the top 33 things that you probably don't know about me... enjoy!

In no particular order:
1. I don't like cinnamon. I never have and I probably never will. And I'm always lying if I tell you I can't taste it.
2. I love to straighten the countertop display at stores.
3. I wore Nike velcro sandals with socks for an obscene amount of time in middle school.

4. My nicknames in college were Xtra Nasty, CJ and Mama... only one stuck. I'll let you guess which one.
5. I seriously wish I was a dancer in a rap video... no, seriously.
6. I am not a twin, but sometimes mistaken for one and we always play along for giggles.

7. I've totaled 2 vehicles in my illustrious driving career. Only one was blamed on a mysterious coyote. (Not true.)
8. I once received a concussion from a ceiling fan.
9. If money were no object, I would always have fresh flowers and a manicure weekly.
10. I've broken 2 bones in my life: my pinky and my pelvis.
11. I don't have a favorite anything... food, drink, color, etc. I like a little of everything.
12. I would love to live in Tokyo.
13. My first CD was Vince Gill - I Still Believe in You.

14. I'm terrified of singing, but public speaking is no biggie.
15. I've never stayed at a job for longer than 3 years. The monster should be concerned come April.
16. Anywho is my go-to transition word.
17. I make my bed every day... usually by no later than 7:30am.

18. I thought people had tails until I was 7 years old. (No one said I was a smart kid.)
19. Small noises drive me insane... weird breathing, pen clicking, foot tapping. Cannot. Handle. It.
20. I love crossword puzzles and word games.
21. My most embarrassing moment involved a towel, a slippery floor and a complete stranger.
22. I do not believe that ice cream should be made in fruit flavors. Let's stick with variations of chocolate and vanilla, people.
23. I've never seen an episode of Lost or The Real Housewives of anywhere. No judging just haven't ventured there.

24. I started drinking coffee at age 32.
25. My proudest achievement thus far as a mom has been teaching the monster to end every song in falsetto.
26. I've always wanted a surprise party, but I've never told anyone that.
27. I once delayed an entire train of people because I lost my shoe between the train & the platform edge. You really must 'Mind the Gap'.

28. I have recently memorized every verse to Mary Had A Little Lamb, Twinkle Twinkle and Jesus Loves Me. Yes, there are multiple verses to each.
29. I hate wearing socks, but I rarely go barefoot.
30. I'm still afraid of the dark.
31. I've always been curious to know what it feels like to be shot. I don't want to get shot. Just curious how bad it really hurts.
32. I know all the words to Ice Ice Baby and The Devil Went Down to Georgia.

33. I have one secret that I've never told anyone... not Hootie, not my mama, not my sister.

Happy birthday to me. You can find me at home drinking a martini in my bday suit. :)

Cheers,
Jessie

Fallin'

Apologies for being an absentee friend as of late, I think the hot August sun has zapped my will to live. (For my friends in the North, I'm not sure you will ever understand what an August day in Texas feels like until you've experienced it firsthand... for 10 days in a row.)

With that said, the influx of new catalogs has me super excited for the fall. What is it about fall that makes it so darn awesome?!? It might have a little something to do with my love affair with scarves! Anywho, here's a roundup of my fav new fall items...

I'm sure y'all are getting tired of my obsession with overdyed rugs, but look at this beauty! Love the colors. It's so graphic without seeming overly trendy.

Any guesses where this one comes from.... IKEA! I'm telling you guys. You all need to get off the high horse a little and see what they seriously have to offer. The shape is great and I love a pop of orange. In case you are terrified of the color, it also comes in a moody grey or blue.

Okay, I realize this has nothing to do with decor, but how awesome is this ruffled sweatshirt. It's comfy. It's classy. It's perfect... except not for our current forecast.

Such a sucker for copper and this is a fabulous background piece. I'm sure you see a fire trend developing here. That either means I'm an arsonist or I'm in desperate need for cooler weather.

Please tell me that someone needs a settee. I've seen this one in person and the color is beautiful... a little more emerald than shown here and let's not forget that Emerald is the color of the year!

Okay, I think I've got my bit of whining off my chest. Now back to 85 degree sunrises. Hurry fall!

Cheers,
Jessie

They Say It's Your Birthday...

Well, technically, not yet... but I do like to start the festivities early. Plus, I like to allow plenty of shopping time for my beloved family and friends.

So if anyone is dying to buy me a present for my 21st birthday, you may gladly choose from one of the following...

Simply stunning and a fabulous price! (Look at me being thrifty!)

Always need another watch. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a diamond encrusted watch, but I like to switch it up from time to time and there isn't as much guilt this way.

I heart the bootie trend. I also heart saying bootie... hard to tell which one I like more.

Anyone else notice that the list is getting more expensive as we go along?!? Oh well, you know my policy. If you don't ask, you don't know.

Happy shopping! You've got 14 days to show me how much you love me.

Cheers,
Jessie

A Girlie Girl!

It's no secret that there is not a lot of pink used around our casa. The monster & Hootie don't generally tend to flock towards all things girlie. So now that I have the opportunity to put together a little girl's bedroom, I'm thrilled!

The overall space is going to be very ladylike and graceful. So not my personality, but it will be perfect. We've been looking at art for a mini gallery wall and DANG... there is some cute stuff out there.

BIRDS! How can you not love these little guys? They are so sweet and just the perfect amount of quirky... and check out the price. Again, how could you not love that?

FLORAL! Nothing says girlie like florals, but I hate to keep things too literal. The colors are beautiful and the abstractness keeps things fresh. I'll take 2 or maybe 3, please!

SCROLLS! Promise me that you'll ignore the silly poodle, but this frame has all sorts of possibilities... a cork board, a chalk board, a mirror or just a simple ol' frame. Plus, it comes in three colors.

Just imagine this awesome print inside the blue one...

If you ask me, any of them are a great option. Too bad, we went with something completely different. :) You didn't think I would spoil all the fun, did you? Guess you'll just have to wait and see.

Cheers,
Jessie

Audible!

We've had a change of plans... much to my sadness I might add. It seems we are going to keep the monster in his current bedroom for the foreseeable future which means no new room to prep. (Insert sad face from me and smiling face for Hootie.)

However, that little monster just keeps growing and growing and the crib is on its way out the door sooner rather than later. So while my world traveler theme will not be taking place right now, we are still in need of a big boy bed.

After all my searching, I've landed on this one...

Not really, I have no idea who makes this one or even how much it costs, but something similar has been ordered and should arrive in approximately 8 weeks. How you ask? Custom, baby.

Don't let that word scare you. It's the same way people say something is vintage instead of just saying is old. It's all about the lingo! Insert one khaki linen fabric and some super fab nailhead trim and I'd say we are on our way to an awesome big boy room!

Now, if I could just decide on some bedding. Anyone else heart this navy gingham from Serena & Lily?!? They are always so cute and so expensive.

Cheers,
Jessie

PS - Sorry, Hootie. It looks like we won't be investing in the race care bed after all.
